Ephesians 2:18-22 |
"For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit."

| When We Open Our Mouths | “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.”
That’s a fine idea, words can and do hurt, but they can also lift us up from the dredges of life. The Bible speaks to this truth. By what we say with our mouths can people tell that we are Christians? Are our words and our actions glorifying Our Father in Heaven and His Son. | 5/4/2008 | Download |
| When Opportunity Knocks | We have heard it said that we are "saved by grace through faith." This saving grace is not earned; it is given. Recently, we learned that grace is getting what we don't deserve. None of us deserve heaven, but we are promised to be in God's presence for eternity if we have faith in Him. How is our faith evidenced? Faith is more than just merely belief. As today's passage demonstrates, even the demons believe in God. So, having faith in God constitutes more than acknowledging that God exists. One way to determine exactly what faith is then, would be to ask ourselves, what don't the demons do? Well, it would be fair to assert that the demons do not act on their belief. They do not follow God, they follow the fallen angel, Lucifer, a.k.a. Satan. Therefore, we evidence faith in God when we apply our stated belief in Him to our lives. In short, we act on our belief. James teaches us that our works, what we do on the outside, shows the world who we are on the inside. Not only that, it demonstrates our love for God. Faith in God is love for Him. | 4/27/2008 | Download |
| 30 Days to Live - Unafraid | Mike Breaux, one of our Timothies and former Youth Minister here at Broadway, will bring the morning message. Mike and his wife Debbie, recently moved back to Lexington after having served as a Teaching Pastor at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL. Before joining Willow Creek, Mike was the Senior Minister at Southland Christian Church here in Lexington. In the eight years that Mike led Southland, the church grew from 3,500 to more than 8,000 people. Today, Mike shares the Gospel throughout the country. He is truly one of the great communicators of the Gospel here in the United States, if not the world. He and Debbie have three children and two grandchildren. We welcome Mike and Debbie back home! | 4/20/2008 | Download |
| When You Make Friends | It’s easy to welcome the nicely dressed and appealing person but not so easy to welcome the poorly dressed and not so appealing person. The interesting part of this equation is that God expects us to not even see these distinctions. God wants all people to be saved. When a person comes into this church building on Sunday morning, no preference should be given to the first category over the second. God looks at the heart and the quality of outward appearance does not mean that someone is more deserving of prestige in the family of God. We should strive to see a person how our heavenly father sees them. | 4/13/2008 | Download |
| When God Speaks | Truthfully, in His Word, He has already revealed pretty much everything that He wants us to do. When we obey what He has already commanded and follow His already-prescribed direction for our lives, then we will find that we are listening to Him. | 4/6/2008 | Download |
| When Trials Come | Trials are something nobody likes to experience (whether they be in a courtroom or not). The kind of trials we are going to talk about today are endured almost daily. It could be that a family member is ill, there isn’t enough money to pay the bills, a child could be going through a phase, the car just won’t work, etc. God tells us that the Christian life should be filled with joy, but He never told us that the Christian life was going to be easy. Nevertheless, trials or no trials (but take heart, the Christian life will have trials), our lives, as children of God, should be joy-filled and that joy should be evident to all. | 3/30/2008 | Download |
| Jesus Offers Hope | EASTER SUNDAY | 3/23/2008 | Download |
| The Triumphal Entry | It’s amazing how things can change in such a short amount of time. There’s no guarantee that everything we possess today will be ours tomorrow. If we put our faith in our materials then, more than likely, one day our faith will be shattered almost beyond repair. Jesus understood this truth; understood it all too well. A week before he was to be crucified, he entered Jerusalem on a donkey to be greeted by a large crowd that was praising his name. Jesus, on this day (we know it as Palm Sunday) was at the pinnacle of His ministry. Interestingly, only four short days later he would be arrested, tried, convicted, sentenced, beaten, and executed, by perhaps several of the people who had been laying palms at his feet, as He entered Jerusalem. Jesus put His faith in God by going through with His crucifixion and did not rely upon man’s praise. You see the praise of men can change in an instant, but God’s faithfulness never will. | 3/16/2008 | Download |
| Wonderful Grace . . . It Restores | We have seen that grace can be described as amazing, marvelous and loving. Today, we will also see how grace is wonderful. Those words describe grace, but throughout this series we have also learned that grace saves us, it transforms us, and that it sustains us; in this concluding message on grace, we will come to understand that it also restores us. When we receive God’s grace, we become different people and it helps bring us back to our Creator. Our sin separates us from God and, to be able to enter God’s presence, we need to be justified, and, therefore made righteous, in God’s eyes. The act of being justified restores us to the age of innocence we experienced upon being created. Meaning that on the day of judgment, God will look upon each of us, who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our lives and have been covered in his blanket of grace, just as if we had never sinned. | 3/9/2008 | Download |
| Loving Grace . . . It Sustains | 1I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will
go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. 2I know a man in Christ who
fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows. 3And I know that this
man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God
knows—4was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell. 5I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses. 6Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say. 7To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of
Satan, to torment me. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away
from me. 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. | 3/2/2008 | Download |
