Who We Are

Staff Mission Statement
The Broadway Christian Church staff is called to join God in: Changing the hearts of the lost, growing the hearts of the saved, and serving those in need.
Elder Qualifications
I Timothy 3:2-7

"2
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap."

Titus 1:6-9

"6An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. 9He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it."
Deacon Qualifications
I Timothy 3:8-12

"8Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

11In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

12A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well."

Carol Feltner
Director of Worship

A native Lexingtonian, Carol was introduced to musical ministry at the age of twelve when she began to play the piano for Northern Heights Christian Church. Eventually joining the NHCC staff as worship director, in addition to accompanying the services, choirs, soloists, and groups, Carol also served as choir director, praise team and praise band director, and co-directed several musical/drama productions. Upon being called to Tates Creek Christian Church as a pianist and eventually as a worship director, Carol drew from their membership to form a symphonic orchestra to accompany services and special programs. Here at Broadway, Carol continues to provide a seamless and flowing worship and evangelistic praise experience. As worship director, she organizes the worship portion of each Sunday service (as well as special programs such as the Christmas Eve service) by specifically planning song services not only to praise God but to prepare our hearts for His message. Besides directing and rehearsing with the Praise Team and Praise Band, Carol can also be found practicing with her favorite Southern Gospel quartet, Heavens Gate, as well as with other vocal groups and soloists including her husband, Bruce. Carol has two adult sons, Michael, a cello music performance major at EKU and David, an engineering major at UK. Besides playing the piano and keyboard, Carol is also a singer and enjoys writing and arranging music.
